Messiah Scratch-Light concert in Eindhoven!

The previously announced full scratch concert of the Messiah on 21 June has unfortunately proved financially unfeasible, but we launch Messiah Light instead! Singing together is a great experience, so we have come up with an alternative.

We will rehearse the choruses with piano and then perform them with piano in front of an audience. A real treat for the chorister!

    Visitors

The matinee concert will take place from 16:00 to about 17:30. Tickets for visitors can be ordered for only €10 via the ‘Subscribe’ button at the bottom of this page. On the day of performance, tickets are on sale for €12.50 at the church.

Already registered for the full concert?

If you already registered for the full scratch concert, you do not need to register again here. You will receive an e-mail with further information, including on how to order tickets for visitors.

    Singers

Everyone is welcome to sing along, whether you are an experienced chorister or just starting. However, it is important that you rehearse the Messiah beforehand. There are good practice files to listen to on the Internet, for example Koorpartij-oefening.nl, Cyberbass, MuseScore or Chord Perfect. The Eindhovense OratoriumVereniging acts as a “support choir. So don't worry if you sometimes miss a note, the EOV will pull you through!

Several versions of the score of the Messiah exist. The most commonly used ones are Peters and Novello. You can use either one. The conductor uses Peters, so should you still need to buy a score, the Peters version is recommended. A tip: take an edition with the English text only. A comparison of the numbering in both editions can be found here. Choruses 37 and 39 (Peters) and 39 and 41 (Novello) are not performed by the choir. You can purchase a score for example at Stretta or at Broekmans en van Poppel. You can download pdf files from these sites too as well as from Carus (not Peters). Free versions can be found on the Internet as well, amongst others Café Puccini (orchestra, no piano).

    Public rehearsals

Till the scratch concert, public rehearsals take place every month. The public rehearsals are free to attend. You can register here.
